Sonnet # 104

The disciple sought some reprieve from his deity
Thou art the one who reigns above, one who knoweth all
Pray, riddle me this oh personification of piety
What is it that brings hope to one on the brink of a fall?
Do insomniacs ever really get to dream?
At the end of a long long night of inky black
Is there a light glistening off a gurgling stream?
Does a day dawn that fills the bottomless lack?
If so then how and when does succour arrive?
Is it in the form of a love long lost or its mere touch?
Who decides the years of penance one needs to survive?
Who is to say what’s too little or too much?
It’s all part of thy destiny, the divine being said.
The heart is born anew once fully bled.
