Sonnet # 103

They say thy body is a temple, to never be treated low
She lay writhing in agony, wondering if tis was so
Is pain a mere fact, earthly and one with a cure?
Or is it more; a scepter wielded by the gods maybe?
A way for them to test bounds of this mortality pure
A tool of divine retribution, for one and all to see
Or is it a means of pushing a believer to the farthest?
Testing the patience, challenging the faith
Till a la Job they hone their mettle to its best
Or succumb to the consuming fires of wrath
A trial it maybe, it maybe a plain physical truth
With pain for companion, there was little left to soothe
