Other Side Of The Fence

I cried out in fear when the shadows outside did feel like a creep

She fumbled out of her room to come and rock me back to sleep

We sat by the window, watching raindrops slide down in a song

She held my hand while I bemoaned a dream lost long

She was our redeemer, a supermom…if you may

A woman nevertheless, who too felt the heat on days not-so-gay

We bowed to the heroic, we lauded the devoted

We praised the determined, we did all but noted

The cries of a human being whom exhaustion hit as well

A body and soul who too felt at times not-so-swell

Maybe she needed to talk…needed to let it all out

Maybe she needed to shout…shout it out loud

It’s time I let the saviour within her rest and subside

It’s time I take the fall and let her enjoy in the meanwhile
