Girl Interrupted

Megha Sharma

An Angel falls…

Formerly of love, now of disgrace

Struggling in the wild to rein-in inconsolable cries

“It happens, it happens to us all”

“There are many out there who don’t care if you fall”

Friends and foes all said the same

As I, the Angel, stood up wrapped in my own shame

Shameful of my weakling heart

Shameful of my ardent ways that lacked all worldly art

“Oh! forget it all, and just let it be.”

Crooned a discerning mind to a passionate heart endlessly

A rising Pheonix hollers a revival call

As I, the Angel, strive to cut short my deadening fall…
